Are qualified teachers always effective teachers?

Are qualified teachers always effective teachers?

  1. This is a good article that discusses that being an officially qualified teacher may not make you a good teacher. Interestingly, the article also talks about the need for teacher training in collaborative skills - something hardly taught at all in todays schools of education.

This got me thinking about how the schools we design can enable collaboration among teachers and end the isolation so prevalent in the double laded corridor "Cells and Bells" schools that are the predominant type of school we see. Schools with professional teacher offices and collaborative work areas for teaching are one approach, and I am sure there are many others. Does anything occur to you after reading the article?

  2. This is a very cool entry. What kind of team did you have? Were you all from NAC Architecture?
